Affiliate disclosure

The short version. Some links on TakeNoteDeals are affiliate links. If you use one and go on to buy or sign up, the brand may pay us a commission. You pay exactly the same price either way.

What an affiliate link is

It's an ordinary link with a tracking code attached. The code tells the brand that the visit started here. If you then buy something, sign up, or complete whatever the offer asks for, the brand pays us a share. That's how a free directory like this one stays free.

What it means for you

  • The price doesn't change. The commission comes out of the brand's margin, not your pocket. You pay what you'd have paid walking in directly.
  • Your details don't come to us. We're told that a link converted, not who you are.
  • Nothing is hidden. Every page carries "We may earn a commission through offer links." at the bottom, and this page explains it in full.

What it doesn't mean

It doesn't buy a brand a better position. The order of the board is editorial: we put the offers we think are worth seeing first, and commission plays no part in it. Brands don't see, approve or edit the summaries we write, and we don't invent an offer to earn from one — if a promotion looks wrong, it comes off the board.

Not every link here is an affiliate link, either. Where a brand runs no programme, we still list an offer that's worth knowing about.

How it's labelled

The disclosure sits in a fixed place and says what it means, because the rules ask for that. In the United States, the Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255) require a material connection to be disclosed clearly and conspicuously. In the UK, the CAP Code requires marketing to be obviously identifiable as marketing. A footer line on every page plus this one is how we meet both.

What we can't promise

Affiliate or not, we don't run the offers. Brands change their terms, end promotions and move pages without telling us, so the brand's own page always beats our summary.

If you want to know about a particular link

Assume any offer link may earn us a commission, then check the brand's page for the authoritative terms. We'd rather you had the whole picture than a tidy omission.
